The Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation

The Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation is one of the Swisscanto Foundations and offers vested benefits accounts with advantageous conditions across Switzerland. If an employee gives up gainful activity (e.g. due to a period of time spent living abroad, the birth of a child, or further education/training), the pension assets from the 2nd pillar can be “temporarily stored” in a vested benefits account. Each vested benefits account opened with the Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation is entirely free of charge for the account holder. Opening, managing and closing an account are all exempt from any fees. Capital held in a vested benefits account is also not subject to wealth tax. The capital is only taxed if it is paid out – which is only possible under certain conditions – and at a reduced rate or at the rate of tax at source. As soon as you resume your professional activity, the Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation will transfer your pension fund assets to your current employer's pension fund in accordance with your instructions.

You decide the rate of return – and the degree of risk

As the pension beneficiary, you are involved in deciding how the  assets in your vested benefits account are invested. Your vested benefits assets can either receive interest from the cantonal bank of your choice at an attractive rate or be used for investment saving. The second option entails increased risks, but may also offer increased yields, depending on the selected investment strategy. Investment saving means that you, as the holder of the vested benefits account, help to decide how your assets are invested. This allows you to benefit from developments on the financial markets. Investment saving involves both performance and price risks. These risks – even when judged carefully – are borne entirely by you; the Foundation accepts no liability.

Which investment group will you choose? You decide!

If you opt for investment saving, you can choose from various investment groups, each of which fulfils the legal investment requirements under OOB2. All of the investment groups are compiled and managed by the Swisscanto Investment Foundation. With investment saving, you are purchasing rights. You will need to issue the order for the initial purchase of these rights in writing using the "Investment saving" form. You can find all of the relevant information about fees on the second page of the “Appendix to the Regulations of the Swisscanto Vested Benefits Foundation”. You will also find out where to submit your order for the initial purchase of rights.
